About

OUR MISSION

The Mysuru Literary Forum Charitable Trust was founded with the objective of promoting literacy, encouraging reading and appreciating the written word amongst all sections of society for the development and betterment of the reading habit in society. The Trust also endeavours to educate, inform and uplift those in need in our community.

The Trust is a non-profit organization. It is dependent entirely on donations, and any revenue surplus is donated to other like-minded charities and organizations.

Since 2017, the Trust has been presenting an array of acclaimed authors from India and abroad at the yearly Mysuru Literature Festival.

To achieve the objective of promoting literacy, over 20 book clubs have been formed catering to diverse groups such as senior citizens, the underprivileged, children etc. Our members also visit orphanages and schools for the differently-abled and intellectually-challenged to read to them. The Trust is constantly helping social causes and has contributed to the education of the girl-child, the flood affected victims in Kodagu, the Mysore District Administration during the Covid Pandemic etc.

We value your contribution towards the activities of the Trust and all donations derive benefit under Section 80G of the IT Act.

GENESIS

Born into a world of literature, Shubha developed love for books early in her life. With her passion for books, she nurtured book clubs wherever she went. In 2015, the first English Book Club in Mysuru was started in her house. A Kannada book club named ‘ Kannada Odugara Okkoota’ followed soon. The enthusiastic response from the readers of Mysore soon led her to form the ‘Mysuru literary Forum Charitable Trust’ and she set up Book clubs in every part of this city of culture.
In 2017, Shubha planned, curated and organised the first annual “Mysuru Literature Festival” to bring the doyens of the literary world to the reading public of Mysuru and to enhance the literary heritage of the city. The Mysuru book clubs-2015, Mysuru literary Forum Charitable Trust and Mysuru Literature Festival have gone from strength to strength since then, with increasing participation every year, from all over the world
