Bio

Vidyārashmi Pelattadka is a distinguished Kannada poet and journalist from Pelattadka village, situated on the Karnataka–Kerala border. She holds a postgraduate degree in Journalism from Mangalore University and has contributed to prominent media outlets such as Kannada Prabha, Suvarna News, and Vijay Next. Currently, she serves as the Chief of the Magazine section at Vijaya Karnataka.

Her debut poetry collection, Gaurīduḥkha, has been well-received. In her work Yakṣa Gana Leelavali, Vidyarashmi Pelattadka narrates the autobiography of renowned Yaksha Gana performer Leelavathi Baipaḍittaya. In recognition of this contribution, the Karnataka Yakshagana Academy honored her with its prestigious Book Award in 2021

She has received a fellowship from the V K Gokak Trust and compiled a poetry anthology titled Kavige Kavi Maṇida Pari, focusing on V K Gokak. Her column, Mugila Hakki, is published bi-weekly in Vijaya Karnataka.

Her second poetry collection, Kere Daḍa, has won the Amma Award from the Sedam Amma Pratishtana and the Matrushri Ratmamma Hegde Grantha Award from the Vidyāvardhaka Sangha, Dharwad. In 2024, she received the CPK Award, and in 2023 the Sahitya Parishat’s Mayuravarma Award.

She has authored short stories, essays, and numerous articles.
