Chitra Subramaniam

Chitra Subramaniam is an award-winning journalist and author known for her groundbreaking investigation into the Bofors scandal, which played a key role in the 1989 electoral defeat of Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. Her decade-long pursuit of the truth stood out for its courage and persistence in the face of political pressure and personal risk. She is co-founder of The News Minute, a Bengaluru-based independent digital platform focused on in-depth reporting from South India. She holds a degree in English from Delhi University and a master’s in journalism from Stanford University. Her recent book revisits the Bofors story and the unwavering commitment it demanded.
