Anirudh Kanisetti is a public historian and award-winning author whose work breathes new life into the rich and complex histories of ancient and early medieval India. His bestselling books, Lords of the Deccan: Southern India from the Chalukyas to the Cholas and Lords of Earth and Sea: A History of the Chola Empire, have redefined popular historical writing in India. A compelling storyteller, he writes ThePrint’s Thinking Medieval column and hosts the acclaimed podcasts Echoes of India and YUDDHA: The Indian Military History Podcast. Anirudh is currently an Honorary Fellow at the Deccan Heritage Foundation, and his past roles include Editor at MAP Academy, where he worked on the Encyclopedia of Indian Art, and Associate Fellow at the Takshashila Institution. Recognised with the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar, the Ramnath Goenka Sahitya Samman, and Tata Literature Live’s Non-Fiction Book of the Year Award, he has also received fellowships and grants from Princeton University, the India Foundation for the Arts, and more—marking him as one of India’s most dynamic young voices in history today.
