Dr. Priya Davidar is a retired Professor, who received her Ph.D. in Zoology (Field Ornithology) under the guidance of Dr. Salim Ali, the renowned ornithologist. She has served on the board of the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehra Dun and was a member of the State Wildlife Board of Tamil Nadu. Dr. Davidar conducts ecological research in the Western Ghats and the Andaman islands. She has published over 100 scientific papers and edited two books.
