Bio

Nagathihalli Chandrashekar, is a huge name in the fields of cinema and Kannada literature. He is a storyteller, novelist, columnist, film and television director, publisher, teacher, organizer and village thinker and much more. He is simply called as “Meshtru” by everyone with love and respect, and is a multifaceted personality. So far he has written 40 literary works, directed 15 films and 10 serials and enriched the world of Kannada art. He has traveled to 57 countries and created travelogues. His works have been translated into many languages ​​and are also part of school and college textbooks.
He actively involved himself in the farmers’ movement and environmental movements and breathed life into the movements with his creative writings.
The awards he was honored with and the prizes that he won, started with eight gold medals in his MA from the University of Mysore, and have continued to recognize and honor his services to the Kannada culture. Honorary Doctorate Degree from the University of Mysore, Rajyotsava Award, National Awards for three consecutive films, Filmfare Awards, Dadasaheb Award and other prestigious awards, eminent posts, and coveted prizes have come in a stream to honor Nagathihalli Chandrashekar.
He has trained many new artists for the film industry from his “Tent Cinema” organization in Bangalore.

In his village-oriented work, he is constantly working for the cultural upliftment of rural students, farmers’ children, and girls in his hometown Nagathihalli, thus,nurturing his roots and giving back to the village from where he began his illustrious journey.
