Moupia Basu grew up in the Delhi of the ’70s and ’80s and studied English Literature at Delhi University before stepping into a long, rich career in journalism with some of India’s top publications. She’s travelled widely across the country, immersing herself in its layered cultures and shifting social landscapes. Over the last three decades, she’s written on everything from business and education to social issues, travel and culture. She’s the author of Khoka (NBT), The Queen’s Last Salute and Anarkali and Salim: A Retelling of Mughal-e-Azam (Juggernaut), and her most recent book Bhagmati: Why Hyderabad’s Lost Queen is the Soul of the City (Westland) came out in November 2024. She now lives in Pune.
