Dr. Prasanna Santhekadur is an Associate Professor at the Department of Biochemistry, JSS Medical College, JSS AHER, Mysore. He spent almost 10 years as a Cancer Researcher at Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, Virginia, USA. He is both Author and literary critic who works mainly in the Kannada language. His highly acclaimed debut novel Su has created a sensation in the Kannada Literary World. Recently, this novel was also translated into the Malayalam Language by Sahitya Academy Award Winner Sri. Sudhakaran Ramanthali. In addition, he has authored two more books namely Mayapanjara (a short stories collection) and Ettana Allama Ettana Ramana (Interpretation of Allama Prabhu’s influence on Sri Ramana Maharshi).

As a Scientist, he received many national and international awards – the prestigious Ramalingaswami Fellowship from the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. His major research contribution includes the discovery of new partners in the RNA-induced silencing complex and their oncogenic role in NAFLD-associated Hepatocarcinogenesis. Recently, his research team discovered the eukaryotic cellular receptor for Withaferin A, a potent drug of natural origin and his team also established a novel link between breast cancer and liver inflammation and fibrosis.
