B.R. Nagarthna

B.R. Nagarthna, hailing from Tumkur and holding an MA from Mysore University, is a luminous figure in Kannada literature. Though she nurtured a passion for literature since her college days, it was after years of conducting skill workshops and Kannada classes for women that she embraced writing. Her eloquent articles grace various Kannada magazines, and for eight years, her column “Pustaka Padasale” brought literary treasures to Kannadigas. Her voice has resonated on All India Radio’s Women’s Section for 12 years, and she authored 40 “Pratibimba” columns in Prajānudi. Celebrated for her book on emerging female writers and 40 related works, Nagarthna has also adapted the epic “Basava Mahadarshana” into prose and captivated young minds with children’s literature. Her illustrious journey is adorned with numerous accolades, including the D.R. Bendre Seva Award, Kumararama Award, Savikannada Cultural Award, and the 2024 Mysuru District Council’s Saadhaki Award.
