Sudhir Vombatkere

Bio

Sudhir Vombatkere is a soldier, engineer, cross-discipline thinker, writer, fitness freak, and a believer in the Constitution of India. 

He was commissioned into the Indian Army Corps of Engineers in December 1962. 

He designed and constructed a motorable bridge founded on ice at 18,300-ft altitude in Ladakh, mentioned in the Guinness Book of Records 1991.  

President of India awarded him Visistha Seva Medal in 1994, for distinguished military service in Ladakh. 

He holds a PhD in Civil Structural Dynamics from I.I.T., Madras, 1987.  

He has rowed in international events of the Amateur Rowing Association of the East (ARAE) in Madras (1967) and Colombo (1973). 

Apart from 80 military and technical papers in international and national journals, he has over 950 published articles in the field of development and environmental, civic and social activism.
