Born in Madras (now Chennai), Chandrasekar finished his schooling at Mayo College, Ajmer, and studied economics at Vivekananda College, Madras, and the Delhi School of Economics. Following graduate studies at the University of Chicago, he worked in the financial services industry in the US and India, and in academics.
Chandrasekar has been writing fiction for over twenty years. Several of his short stories have appeared in anthologies and two of his novels, The Goat, the Sofa and Mr. Swami and The School of Core Incompetence have been published by Hachette India to very positive reviews.
Recently, Chandrasekar has been working on three novels and scripts for films and TV serials. He is interested in books, photography, travel, and nature and has written on these subjects over the years. Chandrasekar’s fiction uses humour to highlight absurdities and quirky aspects of life. Humour, for him, is an ideal vehicle to vent our feelings about the obstacles we face on a day-to-day basis. Humour – whether in cartoons, on opinion pages, in our interactions with others, or fiction and other writings – is something to protect and cherish.
