Dr. Madhu Biradar

Bio

Dr. Madhu Biradar hails from Susalad village in Jath taluk of Sangli district, Maharashtra. After completing his primary, secondary and undergraduate education in Maharashtra, he pursued his graduation from Sri Sangameshwara Mahavidyalaya, Chadchan, Vijayapur district. He has a postgraduate degree in Kannada from Dr. R. C. Hiremath, Kannada Studies Chair, Karnataka University, Dharwad, and has also completed a P.G. Diploma in Linguistics and a P.G. Diploma in Basava Studies. He has been awarded a PhD for the thesis “Kannada Translations of World Poetry – A Philosophical Study” from the Central University of Karnataka, Kalaburagi. Additionally, he has won the Sanchaya Poetry Award, the Sankraman Poetry Award, and the Dr. D. R. Bendre Poetry Award of Christ College six times in a row.

His first collection of poems, ‘Kaalada Rasheedi Puta’,  published with the financial support of the Kannada Book Authority has won the ‘Rajyotsava’ award from Gulbarga University and the ‘Yuva Sahithi’ award (2021) from the Halasangi Geleyara Balaga Prathistana. His second collection of poems, “Dore Netti Garuda”, was published in 2024. He was a professor at University College, Mangalore and is currently working as an assistant professor of Kannada at MVJ Engineering and Degree College, Bangalore.
